IRF Layouts and Exhibits

Three sponsors of our show, the Roseville Roadhouse Club, the European Train Enthusiasts and the Sacramento Modular Railroaders, will be operating their large club model railroads at this year's show! Another sponsor club, the Sierra Division of the National Model Railroad Association, will display exhibits related to model railroading, NMRA standards, and information about the NMRA.

We also invite other clubs from this region to set up and operate their outstanding layouts so there will be model railroads at the show that represent the different model railroad scales. You and your family will have an opportunity to observe these different sized operating model railroads.

Model Railroad Layouts and Exhibits which will be on
display and operating at this year's show:

Northern California Narrow Gaugers On30 layout 14x30. Parts of this layout are new to our show this year. This layout showcases the popular On30 scale.
Dave Thomsen 4x8 double track "O" layout loaded with buildings, vehicles and other accessories.
Sacramento Valley Live Steamers will have their outdoor train ride where kids can ride behind a steam engine for a small fee.
European Train Enthusiasts (ETE) - 12x17 HO scale layout featuring European scenery and trains and overhead catenary operation.
Fischer Bros. European HO - 14x28 layout featuring European scenery and trains and overhead catenary operation.
SMR Junior engineer HO layout where kids can operate a train on a 4x6 fully sceniced layout and receive a Junior Engineer Badge.
Sacramento Modular HO scale large layout. This layout features the Sacramento Modular Railroaders 26x36 HO layout featuring large yard with operating turntable and other steam facilities at one end. Diesel facilities including an operating transfer table are located at the other end of the yard. Many buildings in the yard and on modules are lighted. Layout is double track and features many sound equipped trains running at the same time, all operated with Digitrax DCC. The group regularly runs long trains of 75 cars and more.
Sacramento Valley Garden Railway Club will bring their 16x34 G scale modular layout that features an operating saw mill and other action scenes, many with sound.
Roseville Roundhouse Model RR Club permanent N scale layout - L shaped 12x32. All scenery is complete and includes mountains, tunnels and grades. Some layout additions and other changes have been incorporated since last November.
Roseville Roundhouse Model RR Club HO scale layout - 17x30. Additional scenery and structures have been added to the layout since last year. Improvements continue on a steady basis as this layout is a work in progress. All track work is now finished and trains are operating over the code 83 track. The mainline run is more than 200'. The club can run at least 4 trains at one time using their MRC Prodigy DCC system. Come see this always changing layout.
Paul Brink outdoor live steam G scale trains on a 22x34 portable track loop featuring 3 tracks.
Sierra Division On30 Time Saver layout that the public can operate, both kids and adults. This layout features the classic John Allen Timesaver switching puzzle that has proved to be so popular since its introduction in the 1970's.
Sierra Division childrens wooden train set where the real young kids can play while the parents run the Time Saver.
Outdoor display of a restored operating MOW speeder with information for getting your own.
New - Robert Pethoud's 2x12 HO switching layout that the public gets to operate. Individuals get to be engineer and conductor and deliver cars to specific industries on the layout.
Bill Iwan will display his 4x8 HOn3 micro layout that has been featured in the HOn3 Annual.
McKenzie Bros. will display their Red Mountain Sn3 layout with sound. This layout has excellent Colorado mountain scenery with many highly detailed trees.

New - European 2x16 HO meter gauge layout, first time at Railfair.
